Art and Creativity Journal: Updates Are Time Consuming!

in GEMS7 days ago

Trying to stay true to my word (to myself), I spent some time today working on social media updates.

Specifically, I was responding to a request from Patreon to "update my profiles" because they were introducing a new interface that required certain actions by creators.

It seemed like as good an excuse as any to get going on updating my page there, in preparation for some more aggressive marketing.

There was a time when I actually held out a vague hope that Hive would serve as a kind of cross between a crowdfunding and a Patreon page based around crypto... but obviously I have long since thrown that idea out the window.

The thing that still makes Patreon interesting to me mostly revolves around what I consider "sheer numbers." You just have to catch the eye of a few out of millions of users as opposed to here on Hive where we only have thousands of users. I sure wish this place had scaled, but alas... it didn't.

Anyway the process I undertook today was a reminder of just how much time it takes to update pages and subsections and setting up something in a workable format. Of course, it was also a reminder that I really hadn't done very much with Patreon for several years and it was desperately in need of some "housekeeping."

While I did eventually manage to post an update there, I mostly spent my time updating my different subscriber tiers/levels, which were originally set at a time when I felt far more optimistic about public interest in what I was doing, at least in yhe online arena.

Regardless, at least my Patreon profile is more presentable now, and with a bit of luck I'll be able to at least "harvest" some more free subscribers that I might eventually get to join one of the paid tiers.

Part of my reason for paying extra attention to Patreon is the growing realization that most artists and creatives don't necessarily make any kind of money from actual sale of their art or creative endeavors, they make it from talking about those things.

A bit of a sad state of affairs? Perhaps... but you gotta do what you gotta do!

Thank You!

Thank you, in advance, for your consideration and support!
