Trying to get a bit of momentum going, I spent much of the day doing some routine "busy work" relating to getting ready for fall show season.
It's not exactly "creative," but it still has to be done.
First order of the day was to get all the stones we picked up during our trip at the beginning of June sorted, sized, quality checked and put away into my organization system so they are ready to be used for new production.
Somehow it's a task I ended up putting off for much longer than I figured I was going to, and I finally decided that I needed to get this out of the way before we turn over into August.
The process is perhaps not quite as simple as it sounds because part of it has to do with pouring all the old stock out on the table, adding the newly collected stock according to size, and then matching up any I need for our sets; which are typically four for our "directions" sets and seven for our "chakra sets."
It felt good to get it out of the way and I also feel like I have plenty of blank stones in line for whatever I might come up with.
Another thing that got taken care of today was adding cords to the 10 recently finished pendant stones so they will be ready for the September event. It's one of those little nagging things that I usually refer to as a "two-month and 20 minute project." That is two months to procrastinate and put it off in 20 minutes to actually complete.
As always, my work was being supervised by one of our cats... there's nothing quite like sorting small things or attaching strings to something when you have a cat wanting to be in the middle of everything!
With the month of August just around the corner I'm getting ready to become a lot more productive in terms of getting some painting done and filling in any gaps that we have in our show stock. Although we don't have any events until mid-September that is still only six weeks away and time has a way of sneaking up on us!
