My First Real Battles in Splinterlands

in Ladies of Hive3 months ago

I finally finished playing the needed battles and I am finally in the Bronze rank. I kept fighting these players starting with SLBB which I assume are bots since the lineup they use is very similar to those when I played Campaign Mode. After some searching, I do think they are just bots to get players started which I don't mind.

I'm doing Modern Ranked battles for now in order to get glints because I want some skins and wardrobe clothes for my avatar. I believe I need around 7000 Glint in total in order to get everything I want and since I only have around 2069 as of now and some 1069 to be rewarded at the end of the season? I don't know how that works but... yeah.

Since I finally got to face real players, I wanted to show off some battles I did where I won.

Battle 1:

This is a Fog of War modifier battle. All of my Sneak and Opportunity abilities are not usable. Even without those abilities, I still used the same units like Saltwater Mage, Captain Fellblade and Quillstorm Mage since the magic damage is enough for me to keep them in this battle. Daigendark Surveyor and Abyssal Elemental serves as my tank here.

Battle 2:

In Briar Patch modifier, everyone gets Thorns so melee units are bad in this battle. I really didn't want to use Captain Fellblade because of the melee attack but if no one is attacking her, it takes 3 rounds to kill her with Thorns. That is enough for me to create more damage to the enemy since I am not expecting this to be a long battle.

After this battle, I got some good units like Coralforged that I used in some of the future battles.

Battle 3:

The last battle would be with Coralforged. It's a unit I got in a reward. I wanted to add him to check if he can be a decent tank and since we have What Doesn't Kill You modifier that enhances the stats of melee units, I thought it was a good timing to do it. He wasn't a good tank since he has no abilities that can make him more tanky but having Coralforged and Daigendark Surveyor then Abyssal Elemental is a good concept. With three tanks, my two Sneak units can freely deal with the enemy from behind even if they have tanky units in all sides.

Lineup:

I mostly used the same units for now regardless of the modifier since this is the strongest I have. I rented some units like Captain Fellblade, Abyssal Elemental, Zargrul and others more to boost my team but I am not going overboard as of now to cover all my bases. This is working for now so that's what I have and what I would use until it doesn't work anymore.

My main lineup revolves around Water element and Marlai Singariel because of the bonus magic damage.

Marlai Singariel: Marlai Singariel is a good archon because it gives all of my units +1 in magic. This is a simple but strong ability since I use a lot of magic damage. This archon also compliments a lot of my builds but I will start exploring soon with other archons when I finally get really used to the game.

Daigendark Surveyor: I rented this unit because I kept getting 4 mana and below excess after picking all of my units in the battle. I want some reliable low mana unit that can tank for me but also will not consume a lot of mana. Daigendark Surveyor surprised me in a good way of how good she is despite not having any abilities like Shield or Void.

Abyssal Elemental: I am experimenting on this one but this unit seems to be good. I do not like the 1 damage when he gets resurrected but he gets all of his armor and all of his health as well so it's a good trade for me. Abyssal Elemental also have magic damage so that works with Marlai Singariel. I really need to increase Marlai Singariel's level or rent a higher level since a level 2 Abyssal Elemental gives you an extra magic damage.

Quillstorm Mage: Just like Conclave Tracker, I think I got this one from the free pack. It's not bad but also not too good. The magic damage and Opportunity can be a good thing though. It helps my Sneak attack units when they needed some extra damage finishing off the enemies.

Mystic Scaleweaver: Mystic Scaleweaver is a legendary unit I bought when I was playing Frontier battles. He has a good amount of magic damage to focus on damage and a good enough health to be a backup tank. The Slow ability is also a nice extra so my magic attack units attack first before the enemy.

Captain Fellblade: I saw this unit and immediately fell for it. Captain Fellblade is like a better version of Saltwater Mage. She has 2 magic damage and Sneak like Saltwater Mage but also an extra melee attack on top of that. This can make Captain Fellblade attack twice during her rounds, one for the magic, one for the melee. Since Captain Fellblade has magic damage and Sneak ability, she is a really good combo with Saltwater Mage.

Saltwater Mage: Saltwater Mage is a strong unit overall. With Magic damage and Sneak, she can be a formidable unit so protect her at all cost. Even without the Sneak like during Fog of War modifier, the damage alone is enough for her to be in my lineup along with Captain Fellblade.

Grand Consul Minion: Grand Consul is just a filler. I added it in here since I used it in one of the games above. For 4 mana, I don't have other better options and that's why I needed to rent Daigendark Surveyor. Grand Consul Minion has low health and only 1 range damage so I really only add it when I don't have any better options. Just look at the other options I can have for 4 mana.

Coralforged: Coralforged is a tank that is usually put as the frontmost unit. He has an ability called Flank which allows you to use another melee unit behind him that can still attack. I haven't tried this ability in action since I just got him and I only used him as a tank addition with Daigendark Surveyor. I don't have a good tank with my current lineup so I just use him as an extra tank on extra occassions.
